The ShallQar engineering team from KBTU successfully represented Kazakhstan at the international Shell Eco-Marathon 2026 competition, ranking 12th among 34 international teams.
The competition took place from January 21 to 25 in Qatar at the Lusail International Circuit, a track known for hosting the Formula 1 Grand Prix. The fully electric prototype developed by the students achieved an energy efficiency of 140 kilometers per 1 kWh.
According to the technical results, the vehicle completed 4 laps (14.56 km) in 23 minutes at an average speed of 60 km/h. The aerodynamic teardrop-shaped body of the prototype was positively recognized by Shell organizers.
The project represents three years of consistent development:
2024 — first prototype developed,
2025 — successful technical inspection,
2026 — international competition and top-tier result.
The team was supervised by Zhomart Aldamuratov.
The KBTU Endowment Fund, together with KBTU University and partner companies Supros and Yeta, supported the project as part of its mission to develop student innovation and engineering excellence.
The team’s next goal is to reach the Top 10 of the global ranking.
